My Family

I was born and raised in the Dominican Republic, a beautiful island in the Caribbean. I'm married to Edgar Benitez, and we have two beautiful children, Sarah and David. Sarah attends LCA. We are members of Frisco Bible Church; we go regularly, serve in some ministries, and participate in bible studies. I chose to work in the school environment because it is a family-friendly job that works perfectly with my family; I love children and am passionate about biblical education. I have nine years of experience working in schools and preschools in the United States and seven years working with family law, international business, and human rights in the Dominican Republic.

Why do you choose to work at Legacy?

I wanted to be part of the mission of training and educating students with a biblical worldview and training disciples. I can also live out my faith at my workplace and help my students to grow spiritually.

What's your favorite LCA memory or best teaching moment?

My favorite memory is the parent's teachers' conferences where we hear from parents about the positive impact we are making at LCA with the students. This is one of the moments where we hear feedback directly from parents, and it is impressive to see the significant influence and the changes we can make as teachers.

What is your favorite part of the school day?

I love everything, but the bible, grammar, and science are my favorites. It's hard to pick one between those three. I love I can speak biblical truth in all subjects, especially in science, and I also love to teach in Spanish, my native language.

What is your favorite scripture? Why?

My favorite scripture is proverbs 3: 5-6
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight”.
The verse instructs us to put all our trust in the Lord and not our own knowledge. The verse tells us not to be reliant on our strength and knowledge, but to trust in the Lord. This scripture reminds me every day that the only one in control is God.

What is your favorite book, show, or movie?

Favorite Book: Cien Años de Soledad- Gabriel García Márquez
Favorite movie: Titanic

What hobbies do you have? Or what is a fun fact?

I love to dance, I enjoy Karaoke with my family and friends, running, camping and hiking.
