My Family

I live with D. Snear and her family. Mr. Snear lives with us and lots of human brothers and sisters come to visit all the time. My favorites are the grandkids, Rori, Beau, and Owen. They loved to lay on me, pull my ears and tail and give me sloppy kisses. They also love to drop food on the floor for me to clean up. D. Snear says I'm a great vacuum cleaner.

Watson, the family Schnoodle, lives with us as well. He's a year older than me and I have heard that he was going to be the school's Therapy dog but he isn't all that into people, so D. Snear said he 'failed' at the job. Now he's jealous every time I leave to go to work.

I was born in Gladewater, which is where D. Snear is from. Her high school friend, Kenneth, owns my mom and dad and raised me until I was ready to join my family. My mom is a white Golden Retriever and my dad is a brown poodle. I have 9 jet black brothers and sisters, all miniature goldendoodles. Kenneth says I am the most famous of all his dogs.

When I am not working I love hanging with my family and Watson. I love sitting on the screened porch and watching the neighbor dogs walk by. When D. Snear allows I love to run outside and chase rabbits. Watson and I wrestle every day and I always win. On the days I'm not working at Legacy I work at The Eating Recovery Center and Tribute Memory Care Center. It makes me so happy to meet new people, to bring them joy and comfort, and to get a sweet rub on the top of my head. My job is the best and I am thankful for all the love the kids at Legacy bring to my life.

What's your favorite LCA memory or best teaching moment?

Shep visits with a Middle School student in D. Snear's office

My favorite memory at Legacy is the day I was working and the tornado alarms went off. There was a lot of scurrying around and I could tell the kids were really anxious. I went with D. Snear to help the kids get to safety. There were a lot of little kids crying and really wanting their mommies. So I laid near them and helped them know they were safe. Pretty soon they were all singing songs and rubbing my belly. They didn't seem scared anymore. I was so proud to be able to calm everyone down and make them all feel loved.

What hobbies do you have? Or what is a fun fact?

I love doing tricks. Last year I was a novice trick dog but this summer I earned my intermediate trick certification. Learning the tricks is especially fun because I get lots of treats. Then performing them for the kids is super exciting because I get lots of applause. No one had to teach me how to love others but I have worked hard to learn to 'pray, sit on my hind legs, walk between the kids legs, and other fun tricks. I hope one day I learned to catch a frisbee!!!
