Dear Legacy Families:
As a coach of over 25 years, I understand the challenge of raising the bar of competition. Helping students embrace the sacrifice required for improvement and advancement remains one of the most important aspects of coaching. This past Friday, our Legacy Eagles football team secured the school’s first playoff berth in 6A football while competing in the toughest private-school district in the state of Texas! I congratulate Coach Hix and his staff for their leadership of our young men who have competed with passion, honor and Christian sportsmanship. I also want to congratulate XC Runner, Daniel Ogomo, for winning a District Championship in 6A! What a testimony of grit and determination!
At Legacy Christian Academy, we believe athletics offer invaluable lessons that extend far beyond the scoreboard. As we began this year a new chapter of competition in the 6A classification, our student-athletes are rising to new challenges, facing top-tier competition, and discovering strengths they may not find in a classroom.
Competing at the 6A level means high expectations, intense competition, and a powerful opportunity to grow. The athletes on our fields and courts aren’t just learning to play a game; they’re learning to push their limits, set higher standards, and find resilience through every victory and setback. As one of our coaches recently said, “6A isn’t just about winning. It’s about learning, adapting, and growing together.” All of our fall teams and coaches (volleyball, cross country, and football) have competed with this mindset and we are proud of them. They have embraced the challenge bravely and set a strong example as we boldly enter this new 6A frontier.
The lessons our students learn in these competitive arenas are profound. They discover resilience and perseverance as they navigate tough opponents, bounce back from setbacks, and push through challenging practices. They cultivate teamwork and communication as they rely on each other, recognizing that success is shared and that strong bonds make strong teams. They develop character and integrity as they hold themselves to the highest standards, modeling sportsmanship and grace in both wins and losses. And they practice emotional and physical discipline, balancing the demands of sports with academics and learning the value of managing their time wisely.
At Legacy, we are committed to a well-rounded approach to education. Athletics is just one piece of a larger picture that also includes rigorous academics and thriving fine arts programs. We hold our student-athletes to high academic standards, encouraging them to excel not only on the field but in the classroom. Many students also participate in fine arts, where they cultivate creativity and self-expression—qualities that enhance their personal growth and deepen their faith journey.
This balanced approach reflects our mission to foster Christ-centered students who live out their faith, character, and resilience in every aspect of life. Athletics at Legacy isn’t just about the competition; it’s about rising to a challenge that builds strength, determination, and integrity. These qualities will serve our students well beyond their time on the field, preparing them for whatever challenges they may face in life.
So, as we celebrate our move to 6A, we encourage our Legacy families to support our athletes with pride, knowing that every game, practice, and competition is shaping them into capable, faith-driven leaders. We’re excited to see how each student rises to the challenge, representing not just their team, but the values and vision of Legacy Christian Academy. Together, we are creating a legacy that will last a lifetime.
