This year, several LCA students in the Upper School Visual Art Program had the key to success at the Scholastic Art Competition. The competition is open to students in grades 7-12. Previous winners include notable figures such as Andy Warhol, Sylvia Plath, and Stephen King.

There are three different awards given at this annual competition.

  • Gold Key – highest honors in a category. All golden key winners automatically advanced to the national competition.
  • Silver Key – second highest honors in a category.
  • Honorable Mention – third-highest honors in a category.

Brynn’s portfolio will advance to the national competition where she has the potential to win additional honors and a scholarship. If she earns a Gold Key, her portfolio will be considered for a $10,000 scholarship (16 Gold Key portfolios are chosen) and if she earns a Silver Key with Distinction, her portfolio could earn her a $1000 scholarship (100 Silver Key with Distinction portfolios are chosen). These awards will be announced by Alliance for the Arts/Scholastic Arts and Writing on or around March 23rd.
