You would never leave your child alone to roam Dallas' downtown streets, with no chaperone or protection. Unfortunately, we know all to well the dangers that threaten their safety, so we walk with them and teach them how to avoid these dangers.

Yet many children and teens wander the virtual streets of the world unsupervised and unprepared. It's not because we are irresponsible parents. It's because, unlike our physical environment, we are unfamiliar with the technological realms our children explore every day and are unaware of the dangers that threaten their wellbeing and safety.

Join us on Monday, March 5 at 7pm in the LPAC for a compelling presentation about parenting in the age of technology.* Guest speaker, David Drake, will teach us about the most prevalent dangers and how to protect against them. Topics include:

  • Cyberbullying
  • Social media addiction
  • Electronic cheating
  • Sexting
  • Explicit images/content
  • Predators
  • And more!

We can't avoid technology. But we can teach our children how to use it responsibly and safely.

David Drake is a lifelong educator and the Assistant Director of Activities and Technology for the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools. He and his wife, Alisa, have been married for 35 years. They have two children and are proud to be new grandparents.
