Legacy Christian Academy is pleased to announce that John Alcala has joined the Board of Trustees.

Mr. Alcala was recently named CEO of IT WORKS Global, a health and wellness company. Originally from Midland, Mr. Alcala graduated from UT Permian Basin with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics. Before taking the helm at IT WORKS Global, he served for ten years as a VP, senior equity trader supporting portfolio managers, analysts, and product specialists.

Mr. Alcala and his wife, SheriLynn, have three children: daughters Josselyn (’30) and Julianna (‘31), and son JJ (’36). The couple says they chose LCA because they wanted their children in an environment to succeed both spiritually and academically. The Alcalas refer to Legacy as “good healthy soil that provides an atmosphere for growth.”

Mr. Alcala is a dedicated family man and cherishes special moments with his wife and children and their friends. He also enjoys coaching Josselyn’s fifth-grade basketball team, who hope one day to be the state champion Legacy Lady Eagles.

“I’m excited to be involved in carrying out God’s vision for LCA,” says Mr. Alcala. “I believe that if we’re good stewards of what the Lord places in our hands, He will bless us beyond what we could think or imagine. I’m humbled and honored to have the opportunity to serve. I believe that Legacy Christian Academy is where it is today because we’re all standing on the shoulders of those who have come before us,” he said, referencing a quote by Sir Isaac Newton.

Says Brad Brenneman, chair of the Board of Trustees, “We’re grateful that John has committed to serve LCA as a trustee. He and SheriLynn have been active in our LCA community for several years as parents and in various volunteer roles. The couple chaired the school’s 2021–2022 Stronger Together Fund and were outstanding leaders in this effort, raising a record $2 million. Besides being wholeheartedly committed to our mission and offering a pastoral heart as a former student pastor, John will bring valuable strategic and leadership perspective to our board as we strive to further discern God’s will for LCA in the years ahead.”

John and SheriLynn are no strangers to LCA families,” says Head of School Kevin Mosley. “They passionately support LCA’s mission and have contributed greatly to the school’s community and culture. As a former minister, John will join other strong voices in supporting and guarding the cherished mission of LCA as we continue building leaders with biblical convictions.”

The Alcalas are active members of Gateway Church, in Frisco.
