Beyond College Prep: A Christian High School with Tailored Academic Tracks

As the parent of a high school student, you quickly realize how soon they will be off to college and into the world to fulfill their calling. Whether your teen has an idea of what he or she wants to do after graduation or is still exploring options, we understand finding the right school environment is one of your top priorities.

During these formative years, students explore their God-given interests, set goals for the future, and make memories that will last a lifetime. At Legacy Christian Academy, we go beyond college prep to ensure that each student is not only prepared academically for success at the next level, but equipped spiritually to follow Jesus all impact the world for Him. They are truly prepared for college and beyond…eternity.

Below, you’ll find a brief overview of what we offer, including:

Professional Schools at LCA

Tailoring Academics To Equip Students for Their Callings

While every student at LCA receives a strong liberal arts foundation, our Professional Schools Program allows students to tailor their academic experience to their future goals. This begins in the first semester of ninth grade, as we work with students to identify their strengths and interests. From there, they can choose one of four professional schools to join:

  • Business
  • Medicine
  • Engineering & Technology
  • Humanities & Fine Arts

Professional Schools offer unique course options, experiential learning opportunities, symposiums, and internships. And if a student wants to switch to a different Professional School after a semester or even a year of study, they are welcome to; it’s all about exploring possibilities.

Why Do Students & Families Choose LCA for Upper School?

Training Culture Creators
LCA Upper School students are mentored spiritually by invested teachers, coaches, and advisors, who help them strengthen their biblical worldview and deepen their connection with Christ. We not only want students to get into a good college and ultimately find fulfilling careers — we want them to use their vocations to develop a flourishing culture. With a strong spiritual foundation and critical thinking skills, they will be equipped to draw others nearer to God.

Expanding Horizons Through Leadership & Travel
Our LEAD Legacy program provides intentional training and leadership opportunities for students as they embrace ownership of all areas of campus life, such as service, spiritual formation, special events, community, and communication. LCA students also have life-changing travel opportunities throughout their four years in Upper School. Whether serving on a missions trip to Honduras or the Dominican Republic or exploring historical sites throughout Europe, travel is an eye-opening experience that provides students with life skills and allows them to share the love of Jesus.

Supporting Students With the Right Level of Challenge & Support
LCA celebrates the uniqueness of each student and strives to create an environment where every learner can thrive. For students who are ready to challenge themselves with college-level coursework, we offer both AP and Dual-Credit College classes. Our Legacy Learning Center is an incredible resource for neurodiverse learners who may need special accommodations and coaching to reach their full potential.

College & Career Prep

Creating a Path to Success
We’re proud of the hard work and intentional planning that our students put in, even before they officially enter the Upper School. It’s no surprise that 100% of LCA seniors are accepted to college, or that many of them are recruited by top schools across the country. We spend four years walking students through a meaningful future planning process, ensuring they are ready to exceed expectations as they take the next step in their academic journeys. How do we do it?

  • 8th & 9th Grade
Personalized college advising begins in 8th grade. As students enter their freshman year, they are encouraged to consider which Professional School they would like to join. All ninth graders take the YouScience exam, which helps them discover their strengths, natural interests, and challenges, which gives invaluable insight for future planning.
  • 10th Grade
By the start of 10th grade, each high school student has chosen a Professional School Pathway. The dean of their respective school supports them in course selection and content exploration, allowing them to pursue their passions in the years ahead.
  • 11th Grade
Throughout their junior year, students hear from successful professionals in their area of interest through our Professional School Symposiums. They also identify and explore potential internships that would allow them to gain real-world experience before entering college. As students move toward senior year, they create individual college application plans.

  • 12th Grade
Seniors identify their career goals and apply to their best-fit colleges and universities. ACT and SAT testing is offered on campus, with several college readiness workshops throughout the year. We also provide workshops for the whole family, covering topics such as scholarships, financial aid, and more.

I love Legacy because it has been my safe space, outlet, and enjoyable home away from home for most of my life. Since kindergarten, I have all but lived at Legacy, a place that has brought lifelong friends and essential mentors into my life. The Christian community has allowed me to develop deep, Christ-centered relationships with many people I cherish. Not only has Legacy been a place of comfort for me, but it has also been a place of growth. I have profoundly appreciated the Biblical worldview every class has centered around and the Biblical counsel every teacher has given me. I have found a treasured Christian community and biblical understanding, all thanks to the role Legacy has played in my life.
