Professional Schools Program

School of Business

Business

The School of Business within the Professional Schools Program (PSP) at Legacy Christian Academy is consistent with the school’s mission to equip leaders for college and beyond.  Through this unique academic structure, students have exposure to education (i.e. rigorous and diverse coursework), exploration (i.e. symposiums and guided studies), and experience (i.e. research and internships) with a concentrated focus in their field of study.

In their pursuit of classroom experience, students may elect to explore specific concentrations within the Business School or choose an interdisciplinary approach that exposes them to a more general course of study.

Capstone Experience

Parkhill, Smith & Cooper

Layne Pyle (`20) experienced her first day on-site with Parkhill, Smith & Cooper, a Dallas-area architectural firm in Frisco. Layne was given the opportunity to work in the firm’s Marketing Department with Kristen West. Kristen serves as a technical writer for the firm, and Layne worked closely with her developing her writing skills and helping to develop communication materials that enhance PSC’s position in the market.

Ms. West has been with PSC for several years and said she was excited to be working with Layne. “We’ll be helping the entire company to make sure the written communication we send is correct.”

“I’m excited about the opportunity I was given, and I’m thankful to have this internship,” Layne said.

Capstone Experience

McRight Construction Company

At McRight-Smith Construction, a commercial construction company headquartered in Plano, Nolan Winkler's (`20) on-site supervisor, Clay Curtis, offered him an outstanding opportunity to develop a set of skills that will make him extremely productive for McRightSmith. Nolan worked to become certified on the ProCore software used by many in the construction industry. Once certified, he’ll be able to provide job updates, enhance direct communication with the field and keep the office personnel aware of important issues with current projects.

Capstone

Among the options available to senior students in the Capstone Program is the ability to intern with area businesses. Through an internship, a student will gain first-hand knowledge concerning industries for which they have both talent and passion. Legacy’s Business School students have already had the chance to develop their skills in exciting industries, such as construction, architecture, real estate, property management, fashion, and home mortgage.

Through their experiences, Business School students will gain an advantage in an extremely competitive academic and career environment. Our belief is that this program will breathe life into our students, as they find God’s calling on their lives – the intersection of talent and passion.
