My Family

I am a 5th generation Texan. My parents were raised in Conroe, but our family moved to the Dallas area when I was 6 months old. I graduated from Berkner High School in Richardson. I then went to Baylor University and received dual certifications in education and special education. Additionally, I have graduate level hours in Christian Education from Dallas Theological Seminary.

I have lived in various locations since graduating from Baylor, including places as close by as Plano and Arlington to as far away as Monaco and England. My husband, Eddy, grew up in Arlington, graduated from Arlington High, and then graduated from UT Arlington. He is an Arlington guy through and through! My husband and I have a blended family of 3 daughters (Sloan, Macy, and Kelsey), 2 sons (Gavin and Nathan), and 3 totally precious and wonderful grandchildren (Tyler, Claire, and Walker).

We live on a peninsula on Lake Lewisville where we love to take walks on the lakeside trail. Just sitting in the backyard by the fire pit, listening to music, and catching the breezes off of the lake is another favorite. We also love to travel and have enjoyed trips to different locations. My husband knows that our destinations will almost always have some historical bent to them. We could not go to the Texas Hill Country without also going to the National Museum of the Pacific War. Nor could we go to Belgium without heading out to the WWI battlefields or to Bruges to see a 13th century church, and not even to Key West without seeing Harry Truman's Little White. It is the burden he must carry being married to a history teacher!

I love teaching at Legacy. We truly are a “family” and not just a school. We do life together, in good times and bad, endeavoring together to raise the next generation to be faithful sons and daughters of the One True King. I love my students, and I love my Middle School team. I cannot imagine being anywhere else!

What do students get at Legacy that they won’t get somewhere else?

At Legacy, students have teachers who know them by name, who they are as people, and what makes them tick (or not tick!). We embrace that our students are uniquely designed by their Creator with different strengths and talents. Our job is to meet our students where they are and then help them get to that next part of their life's journey in Christ. We want to see them grow and flourish to be their best, not in relation to others, but in order to be prepared for whatever the Lord has in store for them, individually.

What is your favorite scripture? Why?

Life sends us curve balls, as any who have lived long enough know well. During a particularly challenging time, I read Isaiah 55:8-13 (NIV). It resonated with me at that time like it never had before. The promises in this passage, all of the times that God uses the word “will…”, gave me hope and reassurance. God is faithful; He keeps His promises which result in HIS renown. That is what we pursue as believers; His renown. When we do that, we have an abundance of promises to cling to for all of the days of our life, both the good ones and the bad ones.
