My Family

In the summer of 2000, I attended a leadership conference and wrote a personal mission statement which read, “Demonstrate grace, loyalty and leadership through authentic actions and well thought out reactions. Display flexibility and adaptability in ambiguous situations.” Now, more than two decades later, I am awed by God's humor and love as He guided my hand to write those words.

I am married to Jerry, a number-loving accountant, and mom to William ('25), who continues to grow up entirely too quickly. He thrives here at LCA and has since he became an LCA Eagle in 6th grade. Our family also includes Penny, our naughty little beagle, who is loud and funny and believes with all her 4 legged furry heart she is a human baby.

Having grown up in Amarillo, TX, I returned there after graduation from Baylor in December, 1999. (Sic 'em!) I worked in the non-profit sector in fundraising, marketing and grant management for several years. In August, 2006 I felt led to begin a new career in education. After three moves, four school districts, 10 classrooms, and five different grade levels there are literally hundreds of children who hold a special place in my heart.

In August, 2019 I began working in the Lower School Library, then taught LCA's online school for kindergarten through 4th grade, and now am honored to serve our families as Lower School Assistant Principal.

What is your favorite part of the school day?

My favorite part of the day is car lines! I love greeting and interacting with the children; they tell the most wonderful tales as they come into the building! I hear about lost teeth, breakfast treats, family dynamics and a variety of random facts as they cross the threshold into LCA.

LCA promises to know our children. As a parent of a Legacy student, I consider this invaluable. As a teacher, it is an honor to connect and build relationships with them each day.

What hobbies do you have? Or what is a fun fact?

In addition to teaching, I'm also a writer! I have essays published in two books (so far!), I write frequently on our church blog and ever so rarely these days on my personal website. I write to encourage women and moms with short, personal stories about God's work in my life, including settling into the peace He offers and finding the connections He desires us to have within our community.

What is your favorite book, show, or movie?

I don't have a single favorite book, but I'm obsessed with fairy tale retellings! It's fascinating to me to read how an author may twist a tale into a new time period, vary the perspective, or rework the ending of a traditional story to make a whole new story. Beauty and the Beast and Peter Pan stories are my top choices!
