My Family

We are a family of 5. We are originally from Northern California. We are an athletic family. I have coach a variety of high school sports for 34 years, which included, football, track, soccer, softball, and others. All of our children have played sports since they were 5 years old. Our daughters were collegiate athletes and our son is also pursing that dream. Julie my wife, is a paraprofessional at LCS's lower school. Our oldest daughter, Jada (25) is married to our son-in-love Preston. Jada is a certified math teachers who runs and owns her own math tutoring business in Frisco. Preston works for Texas Instruments in their micro-chip divisions specific working with their robotics and manufacturing of computer chips. Moriah (23), our youngest daughter, is married and currently employed full time with Audiio in Richardson, TX., as the personal assistant to the CEO. She is also a full time student at UNT finishing up her degree in finance. Moriah's husband, our other son-in-love Joshua, works at Elevate Life Church as the youth director. Our youngest child Asa(19), is currently a broadcasting major at SFA. He works part-time for ESPN3, in addition to owning his own production company called AMP productions, which he started at the age of 13. He contracts out his services all over the country and spends his summers traveling and doing production work. In our spare time, Julie and I like to run and workout at the gym, serve other people, work on projects around the house and spend time with our kids.

What do you love most about teaching, coaching, or working at LCA?

The call is to lead and serve our students and their parents. I love getting to know all 400 upper school students and I strive to encourage and motivate each and everyone of them every day. Jesus led by building relationships and He knew each and everyones heart. I just want to follow Jesus command and pattern.

What's your favorite LCA memory or best teaching moment?

I have many memories this year already. The best has been receiving many, many letters, emails, and calls from students and parents expressing their appreciation of my encouragement and challenging their son or daughter in discovering who's they are. Some of the best letters or calls have been from students or students parents, that I don't even have in class. We are called to spread seed and let God do the rest.

What is your favorite scripture? Why?

Four of my favorite verse from among the many are:
Gen. 1:27. 'So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them.'
Exodus 15:3. 'The Lord is a warrior, the Lord is His name.'
Joshua 1:9. 'This is my command, Be strong and Courageous and do not be afraid, for the Lord God is with you wherever you go.'
1 Peter 5: 2-3. 'Care for the flock that God has entrusted to you. Watch over it willingly, not grudgingly, not for what you will get out of it, but because you are eager to serve God. Don't lord it over people assigned to your care but Lead them by your own good example.'
The Why: We are created in God's image, so we are warriors, children of the Holy High God. We are royalty. He has given us power and dominion over this world. We are the example. We are servant-leaders. We need to stand strong and be the leaders God wants us to be. We are the light bringers in this dark world, and the Lord wants us to be unashamed people, the movers and shakers in our faith! We are called to lead, care, and love those around us, all the while, helping those in our sphere of influence, become great leaders themselves.

Where do you attend church, and how are you involved?

My family and I attend Elevate Life church here in Frisco and we all serve in some capacity. Over the last 16 years, I have servant led several teams, including our Broadcast Team, Freedom Team, Community Outreach Team, Parking Lot Team, Prayer Team, and in our growing men's warrior team.

What are you passionate about? What brings you joy?

I am passionate about coaching young people. I have coached for 34 years in a variety of high school/college sports and clubs. I love seeing the growth process, hearing the many triumphs and dreams that have come true from my students and former students.

What hobbies do you have? Or what is a fun fact?

I have quite a few hobbies. I am currently writing a leadership book for men. I'm learning more about coding computer languages, and how AI works. I love to garden in my large food forest and I am always looking to add new tree's or plants. I built my own solar array for our house here in Frisco. So I am constantly tinkering around with and adding to the array. I love to defensive train with my son and just hanging our grilling with our kids.

What is your favorite book, show, or movie?

My favorite books among the many I have read are:
Waking The Dead by John Eldredge and The Barbarian Way by Irwin McManus.
