My Family

I am from the small East Texas town of Gladewater. I was born and raised there among the pine trees and cattle. My parents still live in the house I grew up in. I met my husband Ty while attending Texas A&M University. Upon graduating he joined the United States Marine Corps and we traveled throughout the US for the first 5 years of our marriage. We have 4 children: Perri, Luke, Avery, and Sawyer. Our older 3 children are married and have children of their own, our grandbabies: Rori, Beau and Owen. Our youngest, Sawyer is a student at Oklahoma State University. As most of you know I have a therapy dog, Shepherd, who is much loved at Legacy.

Why do you choose to work at Legacy?

When my youngest son was in 7th grade we made the decision as a family to move him to Legacy so he would be bathed in a Christian atmosphere. While we had homeschooled our older children Sawyer had attended public school. As he entered middle school it became more apparent that the ways of the world were penetrating the educational system and impacting the next generation. We desired for Sawyer to be surrounded by Godly educators and to learn to defend his faith and embrace God's truths. It didn't take long for me to see what an amazing environment Legacy is. From the front office, to the classroom, to those that lead, the love of the Lord was portrayed. When I got a chance to join the team I jumped at it and have never looked back. Being surrounded on a daily basis by those who love God and love others has impacted me in so many ways. Legacy truly is God's community.

What is your favorite scripture? Why?

Jeremiah 29:11 has been my life verse since I was in my 20's. “For I know the plans I have for you says the Lord, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future. ” Soon after getting married my husband and I found out we would not be able to conceive. Needless to say we were broken. All we ever wanted was a family. We truly couldn't understand how this kind of tragedy could happen. It rattled our faith. But then…God shared this verse with me, His words, His promise and through this verse we found the hope of knowing that He had plans. We begin to rejoice in those plans even though we didn't know what they were, we basked in his love and peace, and God granted us the gift of 4 children through adoption.
