My Family

I am originally from Kansas City, Kansas, I'm thankful that my parents moved us to Texas when I was in the 5th grade. I went to middle and high school in the Austin area where I came to love Longhorn basketball-Hook 'em Horns! Although I have always wanted to be a teacher, it was my senior year English teacher who instilled in me a love of poetry and inspired me to teach high school English. After getting a BA in English from Howard Payne University and an MA in English from Texas State University, I have spent the majority of my 25 plus year teaching career in the DFW area. When I'm not grading essays, I enjoy good coffee, good food, and good books..

What do you love most about teaching, coaching, or working at LCA

After spending 22 years in public education, I am thrilled to be working at LCA where I am able to share my faith, teach literature from a Biblical worldview, and create authentic relationships with students.

What is your favorite scripture? Why?

Nehemiah 8:10-“For the joy of the Lord is your strength.” I love that I can live a life of joy no matter the circumstances as I lean on the Lord and remember that He is the source of my joy and strength.
