My Family

Hi! My name is Victor Rodriguez Santiago and I am so excited to be teaching 4th Grade Spanish Immersion this year at LCA! I am a thirteen-year veteran bilingual educator who is passionate about teaching and second language learners. I earned a Juris Doctor’s degree from the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico, and I have a Bachelor’s in Natural Sciences with a minor in Mathematics from the University of Puerto Rico. I am currently certified to teach Bilingual and ESL education (EC-6) in the state of TX. I am also certified to teach Spanish at the secondary level (LOTE-Spanish EC-12) and other areas of specialized training include: Sheltered Instruction and the Science of Teaching Reading (Texas Reading Academy). I am also in the process of getting certified in Addalingua to teach in Spanish Immersion classrooms!

During my years as an educator, I have had the opportunity to teach departmentalized subjects such as Math and Science to both upper elementary (4th & 5th) and high school levels. I have also taught courses at the university level. In 2019, while working for the McKinney Independent School District, I was chosen by my colleagues as their Campus Teacher of the Year to represent my school at the district level. I was also chosen as the 97.5 KLAK January Teacher of the Month that same year! I have also earned multiple awards and recognitions in my teaching career. To God be the glory forever and ever! The Lord has taught me that even though we can make many plans in our hearts, at the end “His purpose will always prevail.”

I was born and raised in Puerto Rico and moved to Texas in 2014. I am married to Enid and I am the proud dad of two joyful children-Sebastian and Aleynid, who both attend LCA. No pets… yet! We have been active members of Stonebriar Community Church (Stonebriar en Español) for the past nine years where we serve in different capacities. When not at work, I enjoy time with my family, trying new restaurants to eat breakfast, going to church, traveling and listening to worship music.

What do students get at Legacy that they won’t get somewhere else?

The students at Legacy will learn to find and develop their gifts for the glory of God. They will also develop strong Biblical convictions when partnership exists between home and school. They will also get caring teachers who always look forward to strengthen not only their students' academic formation, but also their spiritual growth.

What are you passionate about? What brings you joy?

I am passionate about bilingual education and research that focuses on best teaching practices for second language learners. I am always looking for ways to improve my core and share my learning experiences with my students and colleagues.

One of the things that brings me joy is seeing my own kids grow in their faith and in their walk with the Lord. Also, when a student says, “Thank you, Mr. Rodriguez!” at the end of class, that always fills my heart and means a lot to me.
