As a Head Boys' Basketball Coach for many years, I remain acutely aware of the challenge to finish on top. I had the privilege to coach some amazing teams over those years. We were blessed to compete at a high level on a consistent basis. In fact, our teams competed in the state’s final-four tournament eight times in three different states. We played in the state championship game for three of those eight years. Despite strong talent and commitment to excellence on the part of all those teams, we never won a state championship. It is just SO challenging to do for many reasons.

On Monday, our girls' cheerleading team overcame that challenge and captured the Division II State Cheer Championship for the first time in school history.  What an amazing accomplishment! Tremendous work, dedication, sacrifice, and commitment are required to perform at such high levels of competition. The challenging stunts, acrobatics, timing, and energy required to execute a winning routine and to execute it safely in this sport are commendable, to say the least. We celebrate all student-athletes and coaches in this wonderful achievement.

As a coach who pursued many state championships, I recognize the importance of cherishing a moment like this one. State Championships do not come along often and as a community, it is not only appropriate but encouraged to celebrate with these athletes.

Congratulations ladies! Thank you for representing our Christian community well. Enjoy the moment and cherish the memories deep in your hearts.

Growing Together,

Kevin Mosley
