Karis Fulks is a current sophomore at Legacy. She spends her time working with the LEAD Legacy Community Team, singing in Choir, playing for JV Volleyball and competing with Varsity Shooting Team, challenging herself with the Robotics Team, and will be participating in The Addams Family Musical for the Upper School. Most recently, Karis was selected for the Van Taylor Congress Youth Advisory Council. You can read more about this huge honor here.

Why did you decide to come to Legacy? If you're a lifer, or weren't involved in the decision to enroll at LCA, what would you tell someone considering LCA?  I had been homeschooled my whole life before coming to Legacy, and I wanted a change. I wanted a chance to be around kids my age and build deeper friendships.

karis fulks hoco 2019What do you love most about Legacy?  I love how we are a community. What is so cool is that each grade doesn’t stay to themselves, but instead we are all a big family. It doesn't matter which campus you are on or what you are specifically involved in, everyone comes together for events and big moments at LCA. I also love how much time the teachers put into us because they really love us as students.

Which class do you like the most and why?  I would have to choose my Honors Latin 3 class. I love Latin because I’m learning a language that, even though has been dead for a while, has influenced so many languages including English. I also love our teacher, Mr. Ahlgren, because he makes learning Latin super fun. He almost makes me forget that I am at school!

What has been the best thing that has happened to you at Legacy?  I think the best thing that has happened to me while at LCA is all of the opportunities I have been given. From just being on the Volleyball team to participating in last year's talent show, these are just a few of the things I couldn’t have done without being at school that offers so many opportunities. As for the most important thing to me, I wouldn’t trade the world for the friends I have made at Legacy. These relationships are everything to me.

Where have you seen God move while at Legacy?  I’ve seen God move during our Upper School Worship Nights. When we are all singing, you can really feel that there is something different happening here. That feeling that the Lord is near to us is definitely the best feeling ever.
