Sydney York is a current Senior at Legacy who plans on attending Oklahoma State University in the fall of 2021. She is involved in LEAD Legacy and is a Communications Intern.

Why did you decide to come to Legacy? If you're a lifer, or weren't involved in the decision to enroll at LCA, what would you tell someone considering LCA?  I am a lifer, so I would tell someone that they should come to Legacy because you get to grow in your relationship in Christ while learning how to defend your faith. While it seems like “just another class,” the information learned in the Bible classes at Legacy is so helpful. I would encourage anyone who already attends LCA or is considering, to not take Bible class for granted. Along with great classes, you form amazing relationships with the teachers and staff at Legacy.

What do you love most about legacy?  The thing I love most about LCA is being a Communications Intern. I originally wanted to be an intern just to make videos, but then my interests grew.  I now have become more interested in photojournalism and have enjoyed running the Legacy social media accounts. This year especially, it has been so much fun doing the internship with some of my closest friends. There is never a dull moment between us five interns and Ms. Wade!

Which class do you like the most and why?  The class I enjoy most has either been Mr. Littleton's Apologetic class or Ms. McKnelly's JBU English class. I learn so much about how to defend my faith through Mr. Littleton's class, and I cannot wait to continue to use the information I learned later on in life. On the other hand, JBU English has been so much fun last year and this year. I never leave that class feeling as if we have not accomplished something great. We are able to complete a lot of work, while simultaneously building deeper relationships with classmates and friends. Ms. McKnelly joins in our conversations every once in a while too, which is an added bonus. If you cannot already tell, relationships are a paramount part of Legacy.

What has been the best thing that has happened to you at Legacy?  I cannot think of a specific moment, but because I have attended Legacy my entire life, it genuinely is one of the best things that has happened to me. I am so thankful that I have been able to grow up with all these incredible people around me.

Where have you seen God move while at Legacy?  I have seen God move through Revive Week at the school. It is amazing seeing the entire student body come together, grow, and be transformed in their faith over the course of one week. God is always present at LCA, but there is something extra sweet about this specific week.
