Legacy Christian Academy has named Luiz Lima as the new head volleyball coach. Lima, originally from São Paulo, Brazil, brings an inherent passion for the game and over 15 years of experience coaching volleyball. His deep love of the game drives him as a coach to develop unique and specialized strategies to help his players maximize their potential. “I am extremely excited to implement the highest level of training and challenge our Legacy athletes physically, technically, and mentally,” Luiz said. “I want to expose our students to a future where doors will open for every person who is part of our program.”
Lima brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from his time in Brazil. He was head coach of Club Curitibano which he led to a top-three national ranking, and, in 2015, was honored as Coach of the Year. He moved on to be the head coach of the Paranaense Volleyball Federation U18 team and led them to the 2016 National Championship.
Legacy’s Senior Director of Athletics and Activities, Lynn Dupree, said “We are very blessed to have Luiz Lima as our next head volleyball coach. His personal relationship with Jesus Christ, background experience, track record, love of volleyball, and ability to teach the game will propel our program to the next level.”
Lima comes to LCA after assisting with the development of the volleyball program at UNT, which led to the school’s first-ever volleyball conference tournament. He has also worked as an assistant coach for Kentucky Christian University.
Currently, Lima serves as a club director for Instinct Volleyball Club in Lake Dallas. He holds a bachelor's in physical education from the Universidade Integrada do Ceara in Brazil and is currently working on his master’s in interdisciplinary studies at UNT.
Luiz is married to his wife Brinley and they are members at Cross Timbers Church. His faith in God has played a major role in the development of his coaching philosophy.
